*The hashtag #AwfulLegacy is making the rounds on Twitter today thanks to former President Bill Clinton, who used the words in a campaign speech for his wife to describe “the last eight years.”

Speaking Monday in Spokane, Wash., Clinton said of Hillary: “If you believe we can rise together, if you believe we’ve finally come to the point where we can put the awful legacy of the last eight years behind us and the seven years before that, where we were practicing trickle-down economics, then you should vote for her.”

Hillary Clinton is already on thin ice with some African Americans, most notably her 1996 speech in which she referred to gangs of kids as “super-predators” that America should bring “to heel.”

Some folks haven’t forgiven Bill Clinton for referring to Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign as a “fairy tale.”

In this latest misstep, both Republicans and Democrats immediately interpreted his “awful legacy of the last eight years” remark as yet another dig at President Barack Obama.

However, Bill Clinton’s rep Angel Urena was quick with a walk back, claiming the former president was “referring to the GOP’s obstructionism and not President Obama’s legacy.”

She added that Bill Clinton has given President Obama credit many times for rescuing the U.S. economy and fighting for progressive values against Republican resistance.
