Jared Fogle Ambushed and Beaten by 60-Year-Old Inmate

jared-fogle-attacker-steven-nigg*Prison life is certainly not paradise for Jared Fogle.

The former Subway pitchman, best known for his appearances in commercials for the sandwich chain, was the victim of a surprise beatdown that left him bloodied and injured.

Legal documents reveal that Steven Nigg, a 60-year-old inmate, doing hard time on  a weapons charge, jumped Fogle in the recreation yard at Englewood prison in Colorado.  Fogle is currently serving time after pleading guilty in federal court in November to possessing child pornography and traveling to pay for sex with minors.

During the prison incident, which occurred Jan. 29, Nigg pushed Fogle down and dominated him with a flurry of punches to his face. As a result of the beating, Fogle ended up with a bloody nose, swollen face and scratches on his neck.

Compared to Fogle, Nigg was virtually left unscathed with only a small cut on his left hand as his only injury from the incident. TMZ notes that prison officials put Nigg in solitary confinement as punishment for delivering the beating to Fogle.

Speaking with the tabloid site, Nigg’s family confessed that they weren’t surprised by the inmate’s actions. The family added that Nigg has major issues with child molesters and is highly upset in light of so many child sex predators being housed in Englewood prison, which is noted for being a low security federal facility.

Turns out, Fogle was simply the last straw.
