*Grammy Award-winning Kelly Rowland has revealed that she’ll be launching a makeup line created specifically for women of color, and she explained details about her new venture to Essence on Monday night, at an event sponsored by Claritin and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
“My makeup artist Sheika Daley and I are actually starting a makeup line we’re making sure we make, well, we’re starting off with lashes and then we’re going to have it grow for all women,” Rowland told Essence. “But definitely making sure we have our chocolate girls covered. Gotta get the chocolate girls in there! We have to have that, you know. I think Iman has done a beautiful makeup line and I want to do it too!”
In related news, Kelly believes her pal Beyoncé is a ”voice for women” and praised the star’s performance at last month’s Superbowl. She said:
”I just knew she was working on it and she was so excited. She was giving me tidbits. She had an amazing performance. What is so great about Beyoncé is here she is a voice for women and she still carries that torch and we do it with great pride. It is possible to get information about our rights and stand up for ourselves and we can’t wait for someone to do that for us.”

The 35-year-old singer – who has 16-month-old son Titan with husband Tim Witherspoon – also revealed she always keeps in touch with her Destiny Child sisters, telling the New York Daily News: ”I always see the ladies. We always hang out. Michelle was just at my house last week. Myself and B were hanging out – even though it is not in front of everyone at the Super Bowl. We were at her house.”
Meanwhile, Kelly’s new album drops in the coming months, as well as a book that she explained is “exciting” but sadly “can’t even say what it is yet.”
There’s no word on a launch date for the makeup line.
