(L-R) Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon in “Ghostbusters” (SONY)

*The first trailer for Sony’s new all-female “Ghostbusters” film surfaced online today.  Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig and Leslie Jones have taken over the franchise, with “SNL’s” Jones playing Patty, the lone non-scientist or paranormal expert in the group. She tells them they need her because, “I know New York.”

Patty also supplies the crew’s wheels – a hearse from her uncle.

“It was important, like in the original, to have the everyman,” Katie Dippold, who co-wrote the script with director Paul Feig, said of Jones’ character. Feig related that he wanted the actresses to complement each other, so “Kristen brings vulnerability. Melissa’s character is head strong. Kate is the weirdo-nut, and Leslie is powerful.”
