*On Sunday, March 20, the last hours of Jesus Christ will be reenacted through the streets of New Orleans in Fox’s newest live musical, “The Passion.”

The work has been televised live in this manner for years in the Netherlands, but never in the United States.

Actor/Filmmaker/Playwright Tyler Perry is narrating Fox’s version starring Jencarlos Canela as Jesus, Chris Daughtry as Judas, Seal as Pontius Pilate, Trisha Yearwood as Jesus’ mother Mary and Yolanda Adams, billed as a “performer.”

“Tyler will be in Woldenberg Park, and then there will be scenes throughout the two hours that are shot at various locations, from the French Quarter to Jackson Square to Audubon Park,” explained EP Mark Bracco at the TCA Winter Press Tour in January.

Pictured above is the show’s 20 foot illuminated cross, which will be carried over the two hour special from the Superdome to Woldenberg Park. The procession will include hundreds of people from across the country.

Perry, a proud Christian, points to the latest Pew poll showing that 25 percent of millennials are not religious, compared with 11 percent of baby boomers and 7 percent of the generation, born between 1928 and 1945.

If you don’t want to tune in for Jesus, Perry says there’s lots of good music and inspirational messages of love and hope for non-believers to enjoy:

“The Passion” airs on March 20 (Palm Sunday) at 8 p.m. on FOX.
