Alleged Bobby Shmurda Associates Get Murder Conviction

Bobby-Shmurda*Two alleged associates of rapper Bobby Shmuda have been convicted of murder.

Vlad TV cites a press release radio.com obtained from the Special Narcotics Prosecutor’s Office in New York City, which reveals that Rashid Derissant and Alex Crandon were convicted by a jury for the February 2013 murder of a 19-year old rival gang member in Brooklyn.

In addition to their alleged association with Shmurda, Derissant and Crandon are members of the entertainer’s GS9 street gang. According to the release, Derissant and Crandon were found guilty on various charges that included conspiracy in the second and fourth degrees, murder in the second degree, multiple counts of attempted murder in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, assault in the first and second degrees, attempted assault in the first degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree, and criminal use of a firearm in the first degree.

“As indicated by their verdict, the jurors in this trial heard evidence describing a cold blooded murder, wild gunplay and a terrifying disregard for the safety of innocent bystanders as the defendants tried to violently settle scores with rivals in New York City and beyond,” Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan said about conviction in a prepared statement.

News of Derissant and Crandon’s convictions comes as Shmurda continues to await trial after being arrested for conspiracy, weapons and drug charges in December 2014. The rapper’s arrest stems from his alleged involvement with GS9.

Whether Derissant and Crandon’s convictions have an impact on Shmurda’s trial remains to be seen.

Ackquille Jean Pollard (born August 4, 1994 in Florida), known by his stage name Bobby Shmurda, is an American rapper from Brooklyn, New York, signed to Epic Records. He is best known for his song “Hot Nigga“, (released in July 2014) a song that debuted the “Shmoney dance,” which went viral after the release of the music video. This song peaked at 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, with the song being remixed and performed by numerous other artists including Lil’ Kim, French Montana, Juicy J, and Gunplay. On December 17, 2014, New York City Police arrested him, alleging that he was the ringleader of a Crips gang known as GS9, the same as his label, which shot indiscriminately into public crowds and murdered a member of a rival gang. Pollard was charged with conspiracy to commit murder, weapons possession, and reckless endangerment as part of a 15-person, 69-count indictment that included his brother Javese and fellow GS9 label-mate Rowdy Rebel. Shmurda pled not guilty.
