*David Oyelowo will star in and produce the movie “A Day in the Death of America,” which focuses on the true story of 10 children killed by guns on Nov. 23, 2013.

Per Variety, “the 10 victims ranged in age from nine to 19, and the deaths took place in suburbs, hamlets and ghettos, with none making the national news. An average of seven children and teens are killed by guns daily, and Younge picked this day at random, searched for the families of the deceased and told their stories.”

The production companies involved – Allegiance Theater and Double E Pictures – have acquired exclusive feature film and life rights to Gary Younge’s nonfiction book of the same name, to be released Oct. 4 in the U.S.

Oyelowo will produce through his Yoruba Saxon Productions, while Allegiance Theater’s Tim Crane and Younge will serve as executive producers.

Oyelowo is currently shooting the “Untitled Nash Edgerton Project” opposite Charlize Theron for Amazon Studios, and then will star in sci-fi thriller “God Particle” opposite Gugu Mbatha-Raw for Paramount Pictures and director Julius Onah.
