This annual event took place on Saturday, April 16th, on Civic Center South Lawn from 10:00am-3:00pm. Radio Free 102.3FM Street Team DJ’s provided a grooving soundtrack as an enthusiastic, engaged crowd browse the various information vendors situated on the well maintained Civic Center South Lawn. Attendees learned about water conservation, energy efficiency and received information about conserving our natural resources.

The event also featured several food booth and interactive events for kids and a quick and healthy food preparation demonstration by staff from the Social Justice Learning Institute.

Wally Water made a surprise appearance to the delight of everyone in attendance, in keeping with the day’s theme “Celebrate Water.” Wally Water came courtesy of KEEPS Global® (Kids Environmental Educational Providers) and KEEPS Clubz™ to educate children through school based interactive partnerships and programs to understand the state of the environment they will inherit. Children are taught this through six environmental key principles, Recycling, Energy, Conservation, Water Conservation, Pollution Control, Composting and Gardening. Children attending these programs will be inspired and encouraged to pursue higher education in Environmental Fields: Science, Engineering, Manufacturing, Entrepreneurship and to invent green products that will benefit society.

“The three fundamental principles that KEEPS Global® basis is its foundation on are” to Educate children, so that they can become Responsible and act as Advocates to others: this will ensure that the environmental accountability of subsequent generations will be an inheritance of the efforts of proceeding generations” stated Windy Hill, Founder/Executive Director.

A stellar line-up of artists provided entertainment for the captivated crowd. Vocalist Phillip Lauth made a return engagement to dazzle the crowd with his great vocal stylings.

Guy Black radio host from Radio Free 102.3FM had the honor once again to introduce the headliner for the festival. Legendary Soul and R&B group Rose Royce came out to perform a high octane set of their classic, timeless hits “Ooh Boy,” “Wishing On a Star,” “I Wanna Get Next to You,” “I’m Going Down,” “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore,” “It Makes You Feel Like Dancing (the crowd didn’t need any urging), and “Carwash” to name a few.

Their tight arrangements and synchronized dance moves showed the crowd that they can still party hearty as demonstrated on the tune “This Is How We Do It.”
