*In March, Ellen DeGeneres revealed that she persuaded HBO to film a comedy special featuring Quincy Jones, a 32-year-old comedian with terminal cancer — and now the special has a date:

Jones filmed the hour on April 4 at Los Angeles’ Teragram Ballroom.
It’s scheduled to premiere June 2 at 10 p.m. on HBO.

As previously reported, his friends launched a Kickstarter page to raise money for a potential stand-up special after was diagnosed this past July. The Kickstarter made over $50,000, which includes the $10,000 check from Shutterfly that DeGeneres presented when Jones made his first appearance on her show March 15.

“I want to ask Quincy the age old question what’s the one thing you want to do before you die?” friend Nicole Blaine wrote on the Kickstarter page, referring to when she first found out about his diagnosis. “Before I can even ask, he tells me his last dream is to film an hour-long stand-up special. I blurt, ‘I can do that for you. I will make that happen.’ Quincy stares at me. ‘Consider it done,’ I assure him. His giant, larger-than-life smile returns. He’s speechless. He squeaks out a soft, barely audible, ‘Thank you.’”
