*Wendy Williams has earned a Daytime Emmy Award for outstanding talk show, while “The Real” has picked up nominations for outstanding talk show, hair, makeup and outstanding entertainment talk show host. As The Root reports, this year’s ceremony wont be broadcast due to issues securing a show sponsor.
The president of NATAS said in a press statement:
“After last year’s critically successful Daytime [Emmys] telecast [on Pop], it is with great disappointment that the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announces that there will not be a broadcast of the 43rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards. After months of negotiations to find show sponsorship, the NATAS Executive Board has decided that the current climate for awards shows prohibits the possibility of a telecast this year. With that said, we will be putting on a world-class awards celebration honoring the best and brightest of daytime television and look forward to an exciting show. All efforts regarding returning the annual gala to television in 2017 are underway.”

Wayne Brady earned a nomination for Outstanding Game Show Host (“Let’s Make a Deal”), along with Steve Harvey (“Family Feud”), who also earned a nod for Outstanding Informative Talk Show Host. “Divorce Court” hosted by Judge Lynn Toller earned a nod for Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program. The ladies of “The Real” will be up against the ladies of “The View” under the Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host category.
More interesting is that “Access Hollywood,” “Entertainment Tonight,” “Extra,” “The Insider,” and “TMZ” have all been nominated for Outstanding Entertainment News Program. They’re pretty much the same show! The only exception among them is that this writer often questions what Harvey Levin is sippin’ on during the show. Dude seems slightly tipsy sometimes. The syndicated gossip series should win the Emmy for that reason alone. And because Levin allegedly blackmailed Justin Beiber.
