*The Cannes Film Festival started this morning with an announcement from Dionne Warwick that she would be the subject of a biopic that is currently being shopped at the annual event.

She said LaToya Luckett will play her, and Lady Gaga will star as her “musical nemesis” Cilla Black.

But when Gaga’s people were reached for comment hours after Warwick’s announcement, they denied that the pop star was involved in the project. “She is not attached and will not appear in this project,” read the statement from her reps.

Now, Warwick is speaking out again, telling The Hollywood Reporter that Gaga will indeed play Cilla Black in the film, and that the confusion over her involvement was rooted in the fact that Gaga’s music reps were the ones that knew about the deal, and not her film reps.

“It is just a question of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing,” Warwick told THR at a Hollywood Foreign Press Association FilmAid party in Cannes. “I’m waiting now for an email from either her and or management letting me know that all the retractions that have been tracted will be retracted.”

The biopic, titled “Dionne,” is set to begin production later this year.
