*Yes, the headline asks an interesting question. And the answer is “kinda.” That’s because it actually happened … in a new TV series called “Pitch” that’s premiering on FOX this Fall.

The network’s new baseball drama was originally scheduled to premiere in the spring of 2017. Instead it’ll be moved up to a fall 2016 premiere on Thursdays from 9-10pm, following “Rosewood,” which was recently shifted from its Wednesday at 8pm position to Thursdays at 8pm, according to Shadow and Act.

The “Pitch” move is also being facilitated because crime drama “Bones,” which had been slated to air Thursdays at 9, is still being targeted for the timeslot but now won’t see its final season launch until 2017.

Additionally, the change is apparently designed to take advantage of Fox’s relationship with Major League Baseball, and a late-October/early November premiere date is certainly a possibility given that the show could be promoted during the network’s coverage of the Fall Classic, which begins Oct. 25. Also, the “Pitch” trailer has generated a lot of good buzz online, giving Fogelman (whose NBC drama “This Is Us” is also trending well on social media) two of the upcoming season’s most talked-about new shows.

Now, as far as “Pitch” is concerned, it’s a dramatic and inspirational story of a young pitcher who becomes the first woman to play Major League Baseball. Oh, and did we mention she’s black and easy on the eyes?

“Pitch” stars Canadian-American actress Kylie Bunbury who is best known for her role as Lacey Porter in the ABC Family series “Twisted.”
