*”Entertainment Tonight” has exclusive pics from the covert Prince memorial hosted by his ex-wives on Wednesday in Beverly Hills.
As previously reported, the guest list and location of the memorial were kept secret in the days leading up to the event, which was organized by Prince’s ex-wives, Manuela Testolini and Mayte Garcia.
We now know it was held at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater. And in addition to Spike Lee – who ‘Grammed the purple beret and sneakers he intended to wear before the memorial – celebrities in attendance included musician Nile Rodgers, Larry King, Gwen Stefani, Herbie Hancock, Tavis Smiley model Dita Von Teese, Prince’s ex, English singer Anna Fantastic, and Eric Benet, who is now married to Manuela Testolini.
Most of the men had a white rose pinned to their black suits. And, of course … lots of purple. Janelle Monae and Esperanza Spalding performed, along with members of The Revolution. They all performed Prince songs.
Sources tell Billboard a performance of “Sometimes it Snows in April” by keyboardist Greg Phillinganes opened what has been described as a sombre occasion.
