*Jury selection began Monday in the murder trial of Michael Jace, an actor who played a cop in the critically acclaimed FX series “The Shield.”
Jace turned himself in two years ago and told a police dispatcher that he shot his wife April Jace. But he has pleaded not guilty to the charge. The 53-year-old actor has been in jail ever since the shooting.
The prosecution claims the actor shot his wife of nine years in the back, then again in front of their young sons. His defense attorneys have said that his state of mind at the time will be a key issue in the trial.
Potential jurors were summoned Monday to a downtown Los Angeles courtroom for the trial expected to last about a week, reports The AP.
