In an affidavit filed on Monday (May 9), Williams’ mother, Marsha Henson, claimed that she met Prince in July of 1976 at a hotel in Kansas City, Missouri. Shortly thereafter, she claimed in the affidavit, they had sexual intercourse and conceived a son. Nine months later, she gave birth to Carlin Q. Williams on April 8, 1977, she added.

According to federal court records obtained by ABC, Williams is currently serving time in federal prison in Colorado for weapons transport.

Prince had no known will and no evidence of living children when he died on April 21 at his Paisley Park compound in Chanhassen, Minnesota. His autopsy and toxicology results are still pending, and his cause of death is being investigated by the DEA and U.S. attorney’s office.

Anticipating an onslaught of paternity requests, a Minnesota judge on Friday, May 6, authorized the use of Prince’s blood for DNA testing to determine “parentage issues.” A vial of the singer’s blood was extracted by the Midwest Medical Examiner shortly after his death. His remains have since been cremated.
