Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton Declares May 23rd ‘Beyonce Day’, Then Lightning Strikes

Beyoncé brought her Formation World Tour to Minnesota Monday night, and the governor responded by giving the singer an official day.

She has no direct ties to Minnesota other than a love for Prince. Yet, Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton and Lt. Gov. Tina Smith decided to declare Monday, May 23, 2016 “Beyoncé Day,” in honor of her concert in Minneapolis last night.

The same night she was given her day, the skies opened up and threatened to shut down the concert altogether. Her open-air show in TFC Bank Stadium was briefly evacuated due to lightning…

But Bey went on after the storm passed through, whipping the crowd into a frenzy.
