*Sheri Salata is reportedly out at OWN, and staffers did not see it coming.
According to Page Six, Oprah Winfrey’s longtime producer, who served as an EP on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and moved with her boss to the Oprah Winfrey Network, is leaving her gig as president of the channel.
Staffers were told during a company-wide meeting at the Los Angeles headquarters. An insider told Page Six that “an audible gasp” was heard after Winfrey made the announcement.
Per Page Six:
We’re told the sudden move left staff’s heads spinning and the shocked team struggled to figure out the reason for the change among themselves.
Workers began boxing up Salata’s office as soon as the veteran broadcaster and media mogul broke the meeting up.
Salata has worked with Oprah for 21 years and was brought into OWN in 2011 as co-chairman with Erik Logan when it was struggling in its early years.
