* Renown Artist/Graphic Designer Art Sims has created a museum exhibition on ‘Never Seen Before’ artwork from his early years.
That coupled with his incredible work of his most famous movie posters design for Spike Lee titled “Movie And Messages: The Movie Posters & Early Works of Art Sims” the Mayme A. Clayton Museum, February 25 – June 30th 2016 @ 4130 Overland Ave, Culver City, CA 90230.
The Art Sims Fine Art Collection are all for sale for one-time only during the exhibition. Once the Art Sims exhibition closes the fine art will not be for sale ever again.
All of the artwork is original pieces. There are no copies and a letter of authenticity from Art Sims will provided with the purchase of the artwork.
The exhibit includes some of the famous posters Sims designed, including: Do The Right Thing, Jungle Fever, Malcolm X, Mo Better Blues, Bamboozled, Red Tails as well as the comprehensive layouts, photography and notes, logotype ideas that made these the most famous film posters in the world.
Most importantly, Sims is debuting pieces from his early years in Detroit, Michigan to his college years at Michigan State University.

With his multicultural team, Sims has worked with some of Hollywood’s top filmmakers, including George Lucas, Spike Lee, Jon Kilik, The Hughes Brothers, Steven Spielberg, and Abel Ferrera.
He created the indelible images seen for print ad campaigns of numerous famous films, including Red Tails, Malcolm X, Do The Right Thing, Jungle Fever, King Of New York, Love & Basketball, Clockers, When the Levees Broke to Steven Spielberg’s The Color Purple.

The Mayme A. Clayton Library & Museum (MCLM) is home to the Mayme Agnew Clayton Collection of African-American History and Culture.
The collection contains over two million rare books, films, documents, photographs, artifacts, and works of art related to the history and culture of African Americans in the United States, with a special focus on Southern California and the American West.
The collection is one of the most important collections chronicling the history and culture of Americans of African desencent in the United States of America.
Mayme A. Clayton, Ph.D. (1923-2006) founded MCLM in 1975 as the Western States Black Research Center (WSBRC). Dr. Clayton, a university librarian, collector, and historian, believed that preserving and sharing the scattered and often neglected history of Americans of African descent was vitally important for current and future generations.
Working independently for over 40 years, Dr. Clayton meticulously amassed a collection characterized as “one of the finest collections of African-American literature, manuscripts, films, and ephemera in private hands.” https://www.claytonmuseum.org
