*Washington, DC – DC-based Acoustic Pop Soul singer-songwriter Cecily has released the first music video “Real Love,” from her self-titled, independent debut EP “Cecily.” Inspired by beautiful couples determined to build their lives together, she’s released this single to celebrate real love.
Cecily describes her inspiration for the video, saying:
“I believe that real love, with no ego, is a revolutionary act. In today’s world, wealth and possessions are glorified and almost made holy by mainstream media. In this video, I wanted to show two people realizing that grandeur and material desires are inconsequential compared to their love of each other.”
Love over everything is certainly the message.
A constant bright spot on the DC Music scene, Cecily has performed numerous times in all of DC’s legendary music houses, such as Blues Alley, The Howard Theatre, Bohemian Caverns, The Hamilton, The Atlas Theater, The Kennedy Center and many more. Cecily is a crowd favorite at many charitable events, galas, music festivals, and private events. She has performed with many local, national and internationally known artists, including Grammy Award winning jazz and soul artist Gregory Porter and R&B legend Johnny Gill. Last year she was selected as a featured performer for Majic 102.3’s Welcome Back Gala, celebrating the return of radio and music legend Donnie Simpson to DC’s airwaves. Donnie Simpson described her as a “beautiful newcomer.”
Unmoved by passing trends, Cecily’s sound is rooted in a deep appreciation for mid-century soul and jazz, 90’s R&B, and re-imagined folk music. She describes her style as Acoustic Pop Soul, and has drawn comparisons to artists as distinct as Deniece Williams, Brandy, and Corinne Bailey-Rae.
Veteran Music Executive, Demmette Guidry who has worked with some of the biggest names in music, such as Nancy Wilson, Beyonce, Lauryn Hill, and Maxwell to name a few, says, “Cecily is a true Songbird.
