*Musician Questlove of The Roots is among three new members added to the board of trustees for New York Public Radio, a.k.a. WNYC Radio.

According to Variety, Questlove landed on their radar when he was booked to DJ a fundraising party in 2015. At the event, he gave remarks about his love for WNYC and its programming, creating enthusiasm among the board to find ways to work with him more closely.

The drummer and “Tonight Show” regular joins investor David Tisch and entertainment attorney Marc Chamlin on the board.

“Questlove, David, and Marc each bring a deep understanding of the value and potential of public radio, and a commitment to working with our highly engaged board to advance our mission and help us reach our digital, content, and audience development goals. Their appointment broadens the base of expertise on the Board, and we are thrilled to have them,” said Cynthia King Vance, Chair, Board of Trustees, New York Public Radio, in a statement.

New York Public Radio backs two New York public-radio stations as well as podcasts featuring hosts such as Alec Baldwin and Jessica Williams.
