*Sherri Shepherd made a recent comment that had folks thinking she was angling to replace Michael Strahan on “Live With Kelly,” but she claims she wasn’t really throwing her hat into the ring.

All Shepherd said was, “I think people would be ready for a woman with Kelly [Ripa],” and the media was off and running. But Shepherd’s publicist Simone Smalls told Page Six that her client was “joking,” and is too busy with the sitcom “Trial & Error,” which shoots in Los Angeles.

In fact, Shepherd wants Strahan’s “GMA” colleague to replace him alongside Kelly.

“I think T.J. Holmes would be perfect for the job . . . He’s funny and extremely handsome,” Shepherd said.

According to IMDB, “Trial & Error” is a “spoof of crime documentaries about the arrest and trial of a beloved poetry professor from a small town in South Carolina, who is accused of brutally murdering his wife, and the young Northeastern lawyer hired to defend him.”

Currently, Shepherd serves as the host of WE tv’s “Match Made in Heaven,” airing Thursdays at 10 p.m.
