‘The Real’s’ Tamera Mowry-Housley: ‘Cleanliness is Next to Godliness! (WATCH)

*On Monday, June 20, the ladies of “The Real” weigh in on whether to pay your kids to help out around the house or not.  Co-host Tamera Mowry-Housley reveals why she appreciates the way her military parents raised her with the creed that “Cleanliness is next to Godliness!”  Plus, the hosts break down the expiration date on your gym clothes and how to dress in chic one-color looks from head-to-toe!

Tamera Mowry-Housley:  “Cleanliness is Next to Godliness!”

Jeannie Mai:  Tam, you’re a mom of two kids.

Tamera Mowry-Housley:  Yes.

Jeannie:  Where do you stand?  Are you going to start paying Aden to do the chores around the house?

Tamera:  Um, no.  I think maybe when he gets a little bit older and he understands the value of working hard and the value of money.  But, right now, I think the blessing of having kids is saying “You know what, Aden, can you go me get that paper?  Please.  Go get that paper for mommy. “   And he says “Yes, mommy.  Okay.”  I love that I have children to help me out.

[The Real co-host Jeannie Mai and audience clap.]

Tamera:  I was that.  We were that for my parents.  We had, um…

Tamar Braxton:  We had to go get the remote control from our neighbors next door.

Tamera:  We had “G.I. Fridays.” I’m an ex-Army brat.  “G.I. Fridays” means General Inspection Friday, so every Friday after school, we had to G.I. our entire house.

Jeannie:  What does that mean?

Tamera:  General Inspection.  That means you had to get that like toothbrush and you had to clean around the toilet.

Jeannie:  Ew!

Tamera:  Yeah, we had to clean.  But I’m a clean person because of it.  When I was younger, I didn’t like it; but now – thank you mom and dad for teaching me – a clean, a clean lady!

[The Real audience claps.]

Tamera:  You’ve been to my house, Loni.

Jeannie:  It’s immaculate.  Your dressing room is spotless.

Loni Love:  Yeah.

Tamera:  Cleanliness is next to Godliness.

Tamar:  You get that toothbrush still?

Tamera:  No, I don’t get the toothbrush, but I am on my hands and knees, like, like, cleaning.  You’re a germaphobe [referring to Tamar], too, right?

Tamar:  Yeah, but no.

Jeannie:  Yes, you are.

Tamar:  But, I just can’t do it.

No, no really?  Oh, okay.

Tamar:  I’m not a good cleaner, but I can cook.

Tamera:  Got it.

Tamar:  Cleaning is not, you know, my strongest suit.

Tamera:  Okay.  Cleaning is therapeutic for me.

Tamar:  I don’t like to clean, but I ain’t going to pay Logan to do nothing.  No, I’m going to tell him when I’m going to pay him, though.  I’m going to pay him with a spanking, though.  How ‘bout that?

[The Real audience claps.]

About The Real
THE REAL is a daily, one-hour Emmy® nominated talk show on Fox Television Stations and in national syndication (check local listings), with a rebroadcast on cable network BET. Led by bold, diverse and outspoken hosts, these women reflect the home audience and unapologetically say what women are actually thinking. Their unique perspectives are brought to life through their candid conversations about topics ranging from their own personal lives to the news of the day to beauty, fashion and relationships. Emmy® nominated for Outstanding Talk Show/Entertainment in its second season, THE REAL is unlike other talk shows, since each of the hosts are admittedly a “work in progress,” and fearlessly invites the viewers into their lives. Their fresh points of view, youthful energy and passion have turned the traditional talk show on its head. Produced by Telepictures Productions and distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, The Real originates from Los Angeles. Rachel Miskowiec (Good Morning America, Katie, The Tyra Banks Show, Judge Hatchett, The Ricki Lake Show) is Executive Producer.
