ABC to Cancel ‘Uncle Buck’ After End of First Season

*There will be no second season for ABC’s “Uncle Buck.”

The new comedy, starring Mike Epps, Nia Long and James Lesure in an adaptation of the 1989 John Hughes film, has been canceled, according to Lesure, who announced the news on Twitter.

“Disappointed. No more @ABCUncleBuck. Cancelled. Thankful to have worked with @ABCNetwork. Proud of what we’ve done. Thx 4 let us entertain u,” Lesure wrote.

ABC later confirmed it.

The comedy was executive produced by Will Packer and “fared decently in the typically lower-rated summer period, averaging a 1.0 among adults under 50,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
