*Celebrity Stylist/Designer and Oprah Show Guest, Stevo Johnson, was driving in his hometown, Buffalo, New York, when a driver hit his car from behind, while he was sitting at a red light.  Once the police arrived, things escalated and took a turn for the worst.

According to Johnson, he had just dropped former NFL Player Terrell Owens off at the airport and was heading home when he was hit. He immediately called 911 soliciting help, however, he says he received a white irate female police officer that was extremely rude and disrespectful to him and she would not allow him to explain his side of the story.  She also refused to give him an accident report.

Johnson says that once the police arrived she walked up to his car and started yelling at him. Unbeknownst to the officer, Johnson recorded the incident on his cell phone and uploaded it to his Facebook page (www.facebook.com/stevo.mrg); the audio recording was viewed over 33,000 times in a two-day period sparking outrage from across the country. Some people even wrote that they had experienced similar incidents or worst from the Buffalo Police Office.

“I was so dumbfounded.  I felt like I was dumbed down to the lowest level of humanity.  I could not believe the officer was yelling and screaming all up in my face.  I got hit from behind and I called 911 and this is what I get,” he says.  “I think my civil rights were violated. I wasn’t able to speak and give my side of the story.”

He added, “She tried to profile me like a thug. I was dressed up, just coming from a graduation,” he says.

“When she hit me I almost went through the windshield.”   He said the lady that hit him told the police she rolled in to him. However, Johnson said she slammed into him so hard that her old Pontiac went under his new luxury (Lincoln MKS) vehicle’s back bumper, which sits high and that she damaged her front hood.

Johnson asked the officer, “if her car was underneath my bumper and my neck went back and forth from the impact, why wouldn’t you write the report?”  Johnson said the officer identified as Andrea Meegan replied, “I don’t have to because the car doesn’t have $1,300 worth of damage. When questioned are you a police officer or auto mechanic, the situation escalated and the female officer summoned (another officer named) T. James to come from across the street to the accident area.”  He also would not listen to what Johnson had to say.

Johnson said he wanted to make sure there was no damage underneath his car because she also had to put her car in reverse to drive it from under his rear bumper.  He was also concerned about his health due to his neck whipping back and forth.  After the accident, he said the screen on his backup system appears white, the backing system camera was no longer working properly and there is a knocking sound coming from the rear of his vehicle.

The young lady that slammed into his car only had a registration card. She did not have identification or an insurance card and on top of that, Johnson says she had small kids in the car and the three-year-old kid was not in a car seat and the police allowed her to leave the scene without even a warning. The lady indicated that she was picking up the car from the impound for a friend.

“The white female police officer was irate and let the girl drive off and one of her kids was not in a car seat.  The police officer didn’t ask me if I was okay or anything. She profiled me to be this ni**er driver. It made me feel at 41-years-old, if this is the type of service I’m receiving and I’m a 41-year old professional, I can only imagine what the younger guys must go through,” says Johnson.

“The person that hit me told me she got distracted and that she was looking at her kids,” said Johnson.  He indicated that he called 911 again once the officer arrived because she was being rude to him. “I told them there was a rude ass lady out here and she’s yelling and screaming and I cannot even deal with her,” Johnson says.  He says the dispatcher hung up on him.

“I’m mad at the way the officer spoke to me,” says Johnson. “She treated me like I was less than civil.” He added, “It may look like nothing is wrong with the outside but you don’t know what is going on inside or underneath the vehicle.  What about my neck that went frontward and backward?”

“What I am more concerned about is my health.  I have a major agreement to fulfill. I am worried about my health. The car is my least bit of worry,” says Johnson.  Hours later, Johnson went to the hospital to be checked out.  He says the back of his neck was burning. The doctor said it was whiplash.

Johnson said his insurance company, Travelers, assured him that New York law requires the Police Officers to write a report.

Since then he has picked up a report and filed an insurance claim but is waiting to find out if the owner’s car insurance will cover the damage. Johnson has since hired an attorney and is planning to file a report with Internal Affairs.  He says he also sits on a committee with the Buffalo Police Department.

According to Johnson, someone at the Buffalo Police Department leaked that Officer T. James is Officer Andrea Meegan’s boyfriend. He is curious why a boyfriend and girlfriend would be working a case together.

Johnson was a recent guest on Mary J. Blige’s Real Talk Radio, has appeared on a number of different shows including  Oprah, Bill Cunningham, John Leiberman, Mel Robbins, Samantha Ettus, Tom Joyner Radio Show, Dr Cynthia Pizulli’s, Dr. Rob and Carolyn’s Radio Show, Matt Manero’s, Selene Parekhs, Robyn Crane & Dan Louzonis.  Stevo has been featured in Ebony and Don Diva Magazines. He has also appeared on the cover of the Buffalo News in a groundbreaking story regarding sexual abuse.
