Halle Berry is Worried About the Safety of Her ‘Brown Son’

*In light of the recent killings by police in Louisiana and Minnesota and the ambush killings of 5 officers in Dallas, folks are really starting to speak out. Actress Halle Berry is one of those people. And like many mothers of color, is worried about her son

Friday morning, Berry asked on Twitter what the future of her “brown son” will look like and encouraged those reading to take action.

The tweet is accompanied by the image of a boy facing a cloud of blue smoke.

What will my brown son’s future be? What will your brown son’s future be? I beg you to act NOW. Let us be heard.

The actress went into more detail in an Instagram post on Thursday evening, where she vowed to take action beyond posting on social media.

“Our boys need us so rather than launching into deep sentiment here on this platform, I promise to find ways to get involved and help,” she said.

Berry encouraged her followers to get involved as well by “reaching out to your local politicians, legislators and government officials.”

As we reported, Beyoncé also released a statement on Thursday in response to the shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. She encouraged fans to “take a stand and demand” that “police stop killing us”, and provided links to get in touch with local politicians.
