*For his last Fourth of July at the White House, President Obama has invited Janelle Monae and Kendrick Lamar to perform at his annual Independence Day event for “military heroes.”

Both musicians are POTUS favorites. He once chose K-Dot over Drake in a hypothetical rap battle. Obama also named Lamar’s “How Much a Dollar Cost” as his favorite song of 2015.

Monae, a guest at a White House state dinner in May, has supported White House efforts on voter registration, gun legislation and changes to the criminal justice system.

Obama and his wife, Michelle, welcome military families each Independence Day for a barbecue, concert and view of the fireworks on the National Mall.

July 4 will also be daughter Malia’s 18th birthday.
