*The Democratic National Convention begins Monday in disarray, days after its national committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz was exposed in a series of leaked emails suggesting she might have used her office to help Hillary Clinton defeat Bernie Sanders.

Schultz announced she would step down at the end of this week’s DNC convention in Philly, and longtime Democratic Party veteran Donna Brazile on Sunday was named her interim replacement.

Schultz’s impending resignation, however, didn’t stop her from being shouted down by Sanders supporters this morning (July 25) when she tried to make a speech at a convention breakfast event.

Via ABC News:

The crowd booed Debbie Wasserman Schultz when she started addressing a delegation breakfast this morning in Philadelphia, the morning after she announced that she would resign as the chair of the Democratic National Committee.

An event organizer had to actively try and quiet the crowd’s boos before Wasserman Schultz began speaking.

She started by bringing up the deadly shooting in Fort Myers, Florida, but the boos continued before she eventually acknowledged her resignation.

“I can see there’s a little bit of interest in my being here, and I can appreciate that interest,” she said.

Later today, Wasserman Schultz is slated to gavel in the Democratic convention in Philadelphia even though her role has been dramatically reduced after WikiLeaks released emails last week that allegedly showed DNC staffers conspiring against Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential bid.

Meanwhile, Brazile, also a CNN political analyst, will continue to appear on the network as it covers the convention, according to Deadline Hollywood:

Despite her being named today as the interim chair of the Democratic National Committee, plans remain intact for Brazile to be among the network’s key talking-head contributors for the event. The source said, however, that she won’t be paid for her appearances. Brazile is set to take the committee’s reins after the convention, which wraps Tuesday.
