According to Billboard, the song was brought to NBC’s attention by “American Idol” producer Megan Michaels, whose father, David, is NBC’s producer for women’s gymnastics.
The song — with the lyrics “We all got battles/there will always be hurt, there will always be pain/ but that’s what makes us who we are/we all got journeys written in the stars/ just know that you’re loved and that you’re enough/and your dreams won’t be that far” — will be featured throughout the competition.
