*With former Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant deciding to take his talents to Golden State, some jilted fans in Durant, OK want the NBA star to take their town name with him.

Even though the name has nothing to do with the player, an angry Thunder fan has taken to Change.org with a petition calling on town officials to change the name from Durant to Westbrook…as in Russell Westbrook, who remains on the team.

The petition, posted by Ryan Nazari, reads:

Ladies and gentlemen, the great state of Oklahoma has been betrayed. As many of you know, Kevin Durant has left our state, torn out our hearts, and left our beloved Oklahoma City Thunder in depleted shape. All of this after even being offered a cabinet position for the State of Oklahoma. It is because of this heinous action that I believe the State of Oklahoma has a responsibility to change the name of the City of Durant to Westbrook, the man who is loyal, whom we believe in, and who will lead our team to glory. Yes, it is understood that the city Durant was not named after the evil Kevin Durant, but it is just another hideous reminder of what happened to our community. Support the Cause. #WestbrookOK

As of Thursday afternoon, the petition had 515 signatures toward its goal of 1,000. Once it reaches the target, it will go to Governor Mary Fallin and Durant’s Mayor Stewart Hoffman.

FYI: Durant, OK (pronounced DOO-rant), got its name from a French-Choctaw family that immigrated to the southeastern part of the Choctaw Nation in 1832, according to durant.org.
