Asked by Winfrey in a video promo the type of director King fashions herself, the actress said, “I’m still figuring it out. Part of being a director is coming to the set and having a command presence. But also, I think a good director allows those around them to be part of the collaboration.”

King had a lot to tackle in Wednesday’s episode, which has Jacob (Lamman Rucker) meeting with the Bishop (Keith David) to ask for his blessing to continue preaching at Calvary’s rival church, Triumph. Along with that comes confronting his Lady Mae (Lynn Whitfield) with the news that Jacob will be leaving, which results in a very unexpected reaction from Lady Mae.

Meanwhile, Kevin (Tye White) and his own deep-seated issues are coming to light, and he is forced to discuss them with Charity (Deborah Joy Winans) in order to try and work out their marriage problems for the sake of their babies, but this backfires.

Additionally, Grace (Merle Dandridge) deals with the custody battle with Ray (Michael Rodrick) over Sophia (Desiree Ross). And, Mavis (Winfrey), reveals to Grace that she has been put out of business by the city, due to her brother Mac (Gregory Alan Williams).

Below, watch a behind-the-scenes conversation between Oprah and her director Regina King:
