Rihanna Lands Iconic Role On ‘Bates Motel’ Season Finale

Rihanna*Rihanna has signed on to play the iconic character Marion Crane in the season finale of A&E’s “Bates Motel,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Bates Motel” is a prequel to the classic 1960 horror film “Psycho.” Crane was originally played by Janet Leigh in the 1959 Alfred Hitchcock directed movie. The film was made on a budget of a little over $800k, and earned $50 million at the box office.

“We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way. We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate,” executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin said in a statement.

Rihanna will debut as Marion Crane in the fifth and final season of “Bates Motel” in fall 2016. Her role will see her star alongside Vera Farmiga, Freddie Highmore, Max Thieriot, Olivia Cooke and Nestor Carbonell. The 28-year-old Barbadian has a number of acting gigs under her belt, having appeared in films such as “Battleship” and “This is the End.”
