*It’s been 15 years since Bell Biv DeVoe dropped anything new, but the brothas from Boston are back with a new song and video titled, “Run.” The trio sing and rap over a sample of Biggie’s “Hypnotize,” along with visuals directed by Lionel C. Martin.
Along with the song, they also announced the release of their fourth studio album, “Three Stripes” = out Jan. 27, 2017. It will follow-up 2001’s “BBD” — which had come after a significant eight year break. Prior to that, the group released “Hootie Mack” in 1993 — but neither reached the success of their debut album “Poison.”
“You see my haunted pain when you run away,” they sing in the chorus. The song also makes references to Lucious and Cookie from “Empire,” and teases “Poison” at the beginning, reports WSJ.com.
“That’s why I’m not giving my all / When you act like you don’t care at all,” the trio sings. “I guess I’m a sucker for love, but I believe in you, baby / So I never give up.”

While this is the first B.B.D. song in years, Ricky, Mike, and Ronnie briefly reunited for Johnny Gill’s “This One’s For Me and You” in March. They have also kept busy by touring with New Edition, and co-producing the upcoming BET mini series titled “The New Edition Story,” which will chronicle the success of the ’80s R&B group that featured Bell Biv Devoe, alongside Bobby Brown and Johnny Gill.
BBD formed in 1990, and their debut album “Poison” peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, selling four million copies in the U.S.
