*Brad Pitt is getting his legal ducks in a row in preparation for a custody dogfight in his divorce from Angelina Jolie.

Lance Spiegel, a well-known Beverly Hills family law attorney, joined the actor’s team Thursday afternoon, a source close to the situation tells The Hollywood Reporter. Pitt continues to be advised by his Hollywood lawyer Alan Hergott and by manager Cynthia Pett.

According to THR, Spiegel, 70, “has extensive experience in family law and divorce cases involving entertainment figures. He previously represented actress-producer Eva Longoria in her split from NBA star Tony Parker and “The Bachelor” producer Mike Fleiss in his 2012 divorce. Other clients have included music mogul Russell Simmons and actors Heather Locklear and Charlie Sheen, as well as the late Michael Jackson, according to the website for Spiegel’s firm.”

Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt on Tuesday, citing irreconcilable differences. Her attorney Robert Offer said Tuesday that she’d filed for dissolution of the marriage, with a decision made “for the health of the family.” The actress is asking for physical custody of the couple’s six children, according to TMZ, and her legal filing lists the date of separation as Sept. 15.

The day before, Pitt reportedly had an incident with one of his children on their private plane. Despite multiple reports of the LAPD investigating the matter, the police department released a statement denying that it was looking into the allegations.

“We have no criminal investigation that we are actively pursuing,” Sgt. Barry Montgomery told THR. “To my knowledge, [Pitt talking to police] never happened. And right now, that is where our office is. We are not investigating any case, nor do we have any allegations against Mr. Pitt. We understand how rumors get spun up, and hopefully we can put a few of them to rest. We have no investigation involving Mr. Pitt.”

Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services was also reported to have opened a case, but could neither confirm nor deny it was involved in the allegation involving Pitt. “We have very strict confidentially laws that don’t allow us to confirm or deny the subjects of our investigations,” spokeswoman Amara Suarez told THR.

Pitt’s team was said to have been blindsided by the divorce filing by Jolie’s high-powered divorce attorney Laura Wasser, who is advising along with Offer and her manager Geyer Kosinski.

Jolie does not have a traditional publicist, but sources say she is being advised by Chloe Dalton and Arminka Helic. Helic served as special adviser to William Hague, the former First Secretary of State for the U.K. Dalton also is a former aide to Hague, according to the U.K.’s Telegraph.

Meanwhile, in New York City…Adele gave voice to Brangelina fans who are in mourning.

The singer dedicated her concert at Madison Square Garden Tuesday to the former couple, dubbing her evening “Two Hours of Misery.”

“I need to address the elephant in the room,” she told the crowd. “It’s the end of an era.”
