Brandon Marshall Gets Endorsement Offer from Russell Simmons

*Remember our story of Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall losing his endorsement deal from the Air Academy Federal Union because he didn’t stand for the national anthem, in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick? Well, Russell Simmons is stepping up with a deal for Marshall.

When Simmons heard about the situation, he took to Instagram on Tuesday [09-13-16] and offered Marshall an opportunity to make some extra money recoup some of his lost bucks while he continues to stand for what he believes in.

“Which other company is supporting Brandon? It says two endorsements,” Simmons asked followers, before jumping the gun on a possible partnership. “RUSHCARD is in. We will find Brandon and make him an offer and make him a deal.”

As we reported, Marshall is one of the NFL players who’s following Colin Kaepernick’s lead in bringing a call for the nation to address racial injustice in 2016. In fact, while Kaepernick sparked the movement back in August, Marshall was the first to abstain from observing the anthem during the regular season, rallying various players around the league to continue joining after he took a knee during the star-spangled banner before the year’s inaugural game against the Carolina Panthers on Thursday.

In addition to Marshall’s partnership with Air Academy Federal Credit Union being severed, on Monday came more bad news: another voided endorsement. CenturyLink announced it’s kicking Marshall to the curb.

Here’s something about CenturyLink. It is the sponsor of CenturyLink Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks players and coach Pete Carroll just this past Sunday made an overt nod to the protest with interlocked arms during pre-game ceremonies. So far there’s been no public indication whether CenturyLink plans on punishing the Seattle team, . We’re betting nothing will happen, but we shall see.
