*Still thinking he can get the black vote, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump took his campaign to North Philadelphia Friday and met with prominent members of the African-American community — as protesters demonstrated outside.
According to NBC10.com, the round table meeting included 14 African-American business, civic and religious leaders and took place around 2 p.m. inside The View at 800 N. Broad Street, a reception hall affiliated with Greater Exodus Baptist Church.
At the end of the meeting, GOP delegate and Pennsylvania Republican Party member Calvin Tucker thanked Trump “for being brave enough to come” to North Philly.
Renee Amoore, a local business leader who claims Trump has support in the community, despite polls showing the direct opposite, told the candidate “Pennsylvania has your back, and Philly in particular,” and thanked him for “coming to the ‘hood.”
Outside the venue, about 50 protesters got in formation on Broad Street holding, some holding a signs that read, “Slavery Made America Great.” Mocking the wall Trump plans to build along the southern U.S. border, some people dressed up as sections of a brick wall and chainlink fencing.

At one point, a Trump supporter got into a scuffle with one of the protesters over a sign. Philadelphia police officers swooped in and separated the men before it got out of hand.
“He assaulted me,” Jerry Lambert, the lone Trump supporter, angrily shouted to reporters following the tussle. Protester and local activist Asa Khalif had grabbed Lambert’s “Democrat for Trump” sign starting the confrontation.
County resident asked for charges to be filed, but police declined to make an arrest, saying the shoving match didn’t warrant legal action.
