Former Boyz II Men Member Michael McCary Seeks Healing from Iyanla (WATCH)

*Tonight (10-29-16) at 9pm Eastern/Pacific on OWN, Michael McCary, one of the founding members of Boyz II Men, is among six men invited into a “House of Healing” to fix the black mens’ “broken spirit and broken heart” on a special three-part installment of “Iyanla: Fix My Life.”

McCary, known for his incredible bass voice in the group, is a graduate of the prestigious Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts. Another original member, Marc Nelson, left the group due to personality conflicts.

Boyz II Men, discovered by New Edition ‘s Mike Bivins, dominated the charts in During the 90s and won Grammy Awards for their hits “Cooleyhighharmony,” “End of the Road” and “I’ll Make Love to You.” On top of those honors, their album II earned them the Grammy’s Album of the Year in 1994.

McCary, now 44, left the group due to problems with a medical condition known as scoliosis as well as reported contractual disagreements.

“If I have to sum up what I got from my brothers in Boyz II Men, I would have to say betrayal, a broken bond,” said McCary, who acknowledges that he struggles with “abandonment.”

“I mean, at this point, we don’t even talk,” he said.

Other men going through an emotional journey in the House of Healing include:

Clarence, 38: His struggle — laying the groundwork for a better life.

Kevin, 30: His struggle — expressing his anger constructively.

Michael, 46: His struggle — feeling out of place in his own skin and culture.

Tyrone, 29: His struggle — overcoming immature, destructive patterns.

Terrance, 39: His struggle — mending his broken relationship with his daughter.

The journey is by no means an easy one, with Vanzant saying to one of the men,” “I tell you, there’s gonna come a moment when you’re not gonna like me.”

“Yes, Ma’am,” he politely responds before being informed by Vanzant, “That moment is coming for you right now.”

Additionally, preacher and motivational speaker Devon Franklin visits the house to help identify tools for healing.
