*James Otis, the man who posed as a construction worker and cracked apart Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame early this morning, tells TMZ that he is not afraid to be thrown behind bars for the incident.

As previously reported, Otis told Deadline.com that he had planned to remove the star in tact and auction it off to help pay legal fees for Trump’s sex abuse accusers, since the GOP presidential nominee has promised to sue them after the election.

Otis tells TMZ that he fancies himself an activist, and that his main motivation was to stand up for the alleged victims.

A felony vandalism investigation is now underway.

Hollywood Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Leron Gubler announced this afternoon that Trump’s star will be completely replaced. They are working with the police, Gubler said, and the group “intends to prosecute to the full extent of the law.”

“The star will be repaired immediately, but requires several days of seasoning before it is polished,” Gubler added. “During that time, it will be covered to protect it.”

The plaque is reportedly worth $30,000.
