*Prince’s ex-wife Mayte Garcia has joined the lineup for Thursday’s tribute concert honoring the late superstar in St. Paul.
Other performers announced Tuesday include former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger; Portuguese fado singer Ana Moura, whom Prince would feature in international performances; and Prince’s former bandmate Andre Cymone.
The family-approved concert at the Xcel Energy Center will also feature Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera, Chaka Khan, John Mayer and Tori Kelly.
Prince died of an accidental painkiller overdose at his Paisley Park recording complex in April. The studio on Thursday opened its doors to the public as a museum, where fans can see artifacts from his career…and even his final resting place.
Prince’s ashes — held in a custom ceramic and glass urn co-designed by his sister Tyka Nelson and nephew President Nelson – are also on display inside of Paisley Park.
The urn, itself, is shaped like the Paisley Park complex, with Prince’s remains sealed in its front column, according to a press release. The urn features scale-model details from Paisley Park, including the atrium, the singer’s purple Yamaha piano and white ornamental doves. It’s covered by seven iridescent crystals that were chosen by Tyka, who placed the final jewel in the piece herself.
Tyka and President teamed with Foreverence artists “on an original concept that symbolized the Prince’s home, recording studio and sanctuary,” according to a press release.
“We are truly honored and humbled to work with Prince’s family to pay tribute to one of the greatest musical artists of our generation,” Pete Saari, CEO and founder of Foreverence, says in a statement. “We believe that everyone’s a legend to the people who love and miss them the most.”
