*In an interview with TheWrap, director Tim Story said his upcoming projects include “Ride Along 3,” with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart expected to reprise their roles as buddy cops. The script is in development with series screenwriters Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi.
“We’re writing the script right now, we’re writing away and basically, I’m waiting to see some pages and we’re excited for the idea and what it can be and of course bringing Kevin [Hart] and Ice Cube back together because they are the greatest odd couple in the world,” Story said. “I’m impatiently waiting for a script to be given to me. We have some great ideas.”
The “Ride Along” movies have grossed more than $225 million at the domestic box office. Story directed both films. The first installment opened in 2014, and the second film debuted in 2016.
Story is currently working on “Humbug,” a contemporary story telling of “Scrooge,” which will also star Ice Cube. Hart’s concert movie, “Kevin Hart: What Now?” is opening on Friday and is expected to gross roughly $14 million.
Following the success of “Empire,” series co-creator Lee Daniels has partnered with Fox once more to bring viewers another musical drama about an all-girl group. “Star” is an upcoming series created by Daniels and Tom Donaghy that revolves around three talented young singers (played by Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O’Grady) who navigate the music business on their road to success.
The series is set in Atlanta and will consist of original music, along with musical fantasy sequences, as dreams of the future.
Queen Latifah and Lenny Kravitz lead the cast, and the show will also feature various special guests such as Tyrese and Naomi Campbell.
