*Usually singer Sade doesn’t make news unless she’s released a new project or about to release a new project. Well now her name is in the news and would you believe it’s not about her making new music or anything.
Actually, it’s not about her directly, but more about her daughter, Mickaila Adu. Mickaila is Sade’s only child and she is from the singer’s union with Jamaican-American producer Bob Morgan. They raised Mickaila together during Sade’s break from music before they eventually went their separate ways.
Like we said up top, Sade doesn’t like to put herself out there to the public, but Mickaila, 21, doesn’t have a problem with it all. In fact, over the last few years she’s had no problem sharing aspects of her life (and artwork) on social media. That includes her journey to identifying as a transgender man.
Yes, you read that right. According to reports, Mickaila, otherwise known as “Ila,” was open about being a lesbian for a while. However, Ila took to Instagram to let people know that he’d started taking the necessary shots, or hormone replacement therapy, to transition. He shared the news with the caption: “Today is the first day of the rest of my life.”
If you’re wondering, Ila hasn’t shared what his new name will be, or if he plans to have a new one at all now that he identifies as male. But Ila has reportedly been open for some time about his desire to transition.
And if you’re wondering what Sade has to say about this development, you’ll never know because as usual, she’s not even remotely talking about the subject or anything else.
