*Edi Gathegi will play an affluent African American psychiatrist who gets convicted of murder and sent to solitary confinement in the Aaron Fjellman-directed indie “The SHU.”
The lead role finds Gathegi’s character fighting for an appeal and dealing with one of two deadly truths: either he’s guilty and being haunted by the ghost of his victim, or he’s innocent and succumbing to the mind bending effects of extreme isolation.
James Jagger, Melora Hardin, and Tony Amendola co-star, according to Deadline.com.
Fjellman, who co-wrote the script with James Doc Mason, also produces with Pete Kirtley, Jessa Zarubica and Matthew Temple.
Gathegi played Laurent in the “Twilight” films and can currently be seen in Crackle’s “StartUP” and up next in “The Blacklist: Redemption.”
