WAR Performs at L.A.’ Largest Street Fair, The Taste of Soul

*WAR took over 94.7 The Wave’s stage on Saturday evening to perform for the 350,000+ attendees at Los Angeles largest street festival, Taste of Soul!

Lead singer Lonnie Jordan took the crowd on a blast to the past while performing hits such as Lowrider, Why Can’t We Be Friend, and many more WAR classics.

WAR’s current album titled Evolutionary on Universal Music Enterprises, is there first in-studio album in 20 years.  WAR is currently on a national tour where they are performing both their classic hits and new music from the Evolutionary.

WAR has achieved 31 Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum RIAA sales honors, 11 Top 10 pop hits and eight Top 15 R&B hits, including “Low Rider,” “Spill the Wine,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” “The Cisco Kid,” “The World is a Ghetto,” “Gypsy Man,” and “Summer.”

Over the years, WAR’s songs have been sampled by a broad range of artists, including the Beastie Boys, George Clinton, The Get Boys, Ice Cube, Ice-T, Janet Jackson, Method Man, Redman, Smash Mouth, Tupac Shakur, Barry White, ZZ Top, Portishead, Korn, and many more.

The Taste of Soul

The Taste of Soul is an annual free family-friendly street fair which takes place on Crenshaw Blvd. between Stocker Blvd. and Rodeo Rd.

The highly anticipated street festival features a taste of all things “soulful” including food from local restaurants, live entertainment, displays from local artist, and exhibits from business and organizations.

The Taste of Soul is presented by the Los Angeles Sentinel Newspaper and benefiting the South L.A. non-profit organizations Mothers in Action and the Brotherhood Crusade, the Taste of Soul Los Angeles is a free family-friendly event hosted in partnership with the City of Los Angeles, Radio Free 102.3 KJLH, and 94.7 The Wave.
