Al Sharpton Tells President-Elect Donald Trump to ‘Saddle Up’

Al Sharpton

*Al Sharpton gave an impromptu interview outside of NBC Studios in NYC with TMZ, and said that the new President-elect Donald Trump should “saddle up,” because the civil rights activist and many others are determined to fight back against his racist and divisive politics and reform.

“It’s not the results we wanted, very sad, but we’ve survived almost as bad or in some cases, worse,” he said. “How do we protect what we’ve done in the past eight years that he’s gonna come after…and how do we do what they do? Go to work and fight back. He can rest assured we are not going to take our foot off the pedal.”

When asked if he was going to move to Canada like he said he would if Trump was elected, Sharpton said that it was said in jest, — he’s not going anywhere.

“Mr. Trump better saddle up,” he said. “He’s got a lot he has to deal with. He promised a wall, he promised jobs…he’s gonna have to deliver for his crowd while he fights our crowd. His crowd’ll turn on him within three months. He can’t deliver half of what he said, I guarantee it.”

Speaking Wednesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Sharpton said “This is not Bernie Sanders populism. This is George Wallace populism that he’s doing. And I think that many people have got to call it the way it is.”

Sharpton said that Trump purposely ran a campaign based on racial fears and divisiveness, adding “He knew exactly what he was doing. He was playing to the worst elements.”
