*CBS’ remake of “Training Day” will premiere on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 10 p.m., the network announced Wednesday.
In the small screen reboot, Bill Paxton takes on the Denzel Washington role as the crooked veteran detective, while Justin Cornwell stars in the Ethan Hawke role of his idealistic young partner.
The crime thriller begins 15 years after the events of Antoine Fuqua’s 2001 film, when Cornwell is appointed to an elite squad of the LAPD and is partnered with Paxton, described as a “seasoned yet morally ambiguous detective.”

CBS also announced Wednesday that “Ransom,” a hostage negotiator procedural, will launch the network’s new midseason lineup on Sunday, Jan. 1 before moving to its regular time Saturdays at 8/7c on Jan. 7.
Katherine Heigl and Dule Hill’s new show “Doubt” will premiere Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 10/9c. The “Grey’s Anatomy” alum plays an attorney who starts to fall for her client, who is accused of murdering his girlfriend 24 years prior.
“Hunted” premieres Sunday, Jan. 22 at 10/9c following the NFL’s AFC Championship game, and moves to its regular Wednesday at 8/7c timeslot on Jan. 25. The competition series has people living as fugitives as they try to evade capture by a team of elite investigators. Nine duos will compete for a $250,000 prize.
“Undercover Boss” returns for its eighth season on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 8/7c; “Survivor” begins Season 34 on Wednesday, March 8 at 8/7c; and “The Amazing Race” returns on Friday, April 21 at 8/7c.
Premiere dates for “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” Season 2, as well as new comedy “Superior Donuts” were not included in the announcement.
