Ashanti: My mom was so similar. She would usually drop me off to my boyfriend’s house. She would actually come inside…
Jeannie Mai: No!
Ashanti: [Continued] I’m telling you. It was so embarrassing. She would come inside. [Ashanti imitates her mom.] “Hi, I’m Tina. How are you? This is your son? This is your dad?” And my mom would sit there in the living room.
[The Real audience claps.]
Ashanti: [Covers face.] And I would be like, “Oh my Gosh, ma! Please don’t, don’t do that.” She was always up in there.
Jeannie: That’s crazy.
Tamera Mowry-Housley: When were you guys allowed to date?
Ashanti: Well I started… Well allowed and sneaking, I started sneaking I would say about fourteen, thirteen, fourteen somewhere around there.
Jeannie: You’re so lucky!
Tamera: Yeah.
Ashanti: Don’t tell her because she’s over there. [Laughs]
