‘Priceless!’ Motown Singer Louis Price (Cut from the Same Cloth of Motown Powerhouses)

*In the 1960’s Motown Records produced many powerhouse male vocalists like Levi Stubbs, Marvin Gaye, David Ruffin, Dennis Edwards, and Edwin Starr to name a few. Their style was unmatched if not inimitable.

Enter singer Louis Price in the 1970s when he joined the mighty Temptations’ lineup. The Tempts had just departed Motown for a stint with Atlantic Records. The result was the album “Hear To Tempt You” where Price debuted as lead vocal on the memorable “She’s All I Got.” When the group appeared on national TV with Price singing his heart out on “A Song For You,” we knew then he was destined for the esteemed echelon of singers extraordinaire.

After three years as lead singer of The Tempts, as fate would have it, in the 1990’s while singing at Sidney Poitier’s birthday party at The Beverly Hills Hotel, Berry Gordy heard Price’s amazing voice and personally signed him as a solo artist to the Motown label. This venture yielded a great album titled “Louis Price.”

Now at a time when the hit show Lee Daniel’s Empire features male vocal mimickers with lilting voices, and offhand stage gimmicks, it’s refreshing to know the real deal is still on the scene. Price who has a vocal range from bass to first tenor mesmerizes with the amazing things he can do with his voice. He’s very diverse in his song selections, and comfortable singing anything – standards, jazz, classic R&B and gospel. He’s quite the showman and knows how to craft an ambience to where the audience is all in.

For a great time, and a show you’ll never forget, please join Louis Price in concert at the Moss Theater at New Roads School (Herb Alpert Educational Village) located at 3131 Olympic Blvd, Santa Monica CA 90404 on Sunday December 11, 2016.
