*FOX will present a not-to-be-missed night of music and drama on Wednesday, Dec. 14, airing one night only at a special time, “Empire’s” Season 3 fall finale (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), followed by the special premiere of Lee Daniels’ new music drama series, “Star” (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).

The series will then premiere in its regular time period with an all-new episode Wednesday, Jan. 4 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).

Featuring a soundtrack of original music and stunning music performances, “Star” follows three talented young singers — desperate for a new start and with ambitions of stardom — as they navigate the cut-throat music business.

STAR series on FOX

The series, which hails from Daniels and Tom Donaghy, stars Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award, Grammy Award and Golden Globe Award winner Queen Latifah (“Bessie,” “Bringing Down The House”) as CARLOTTA and Emmy Award nominee Benjamin Bratt (“24: Live Another Day,” “Law & Order”) as JAHIL, and newcomers Jude Demorest as STAR, Ryan Destiny as ALEXANDRA, Brittany O’Grady as SIMONE and Amiyah Scott as COTTON.

The series also will feature guest stars Lenny Kravitz, supermodel Naomi Campbell and Tyrese Gibson.

After the holiday hiatus, “Empire’s” Wednesday night slot will be replaced by “Star,” as “Empire” always goes off the air from mid December through most of March Yahoo notes.

“Star” is a production of 20th Century Fox Television in association with Lee Daniels Entertainment. Daniels and Donaghy are the creators and executive producers. Pamela Oas Williams and Effie Brown also serve as executive producers. Chuck Pratt is an executive producer and serves as showrunner of the series.
