*Perhaps to get her mind off of her mother’s arrest over an overdue library book, Tika Sumpter turned all eyes to her newborn daughter on Wednesday…or rather, to her baby’s feet.
The “Southside With You” star took to Instagram with a pic of the tiny heels and toes of her first child Ella-Loren, born on October 8. The father is reportedly her “Haves And Have Nots” co-star Nick James, who plays Officer Justin.
“Love at first sight. Ella-Loren. #love #life #happiness,” she captioned the pic.
Sumpter first announced her pregnancy in August while promoting “Southside” with the film’s executive producer, John Legend. In an Instagram pic taken from her press conference she wrote, “Preggers and promoting w Legend. Happy and proud. #Southsidewithyou #Aug26th.”
As for why she kept her pregnancy a secret for so long, Tika told People in October: “She’s my first child, and I wanted to experience every moment of this pregnancy for myself and enjoy it without everybody else being in it with me.”
“I didn’t want to hear, ‘Who’s the dad? Are you with the dad?’ Social media can be harsh, and I’m a mama bear, protective of my family,” she continued. “So that’s why I waited to tell people, including some friends.”
However, she noted, “My friends weren’t mad at me,” she adds. “They said, ‘You did it the way you wanted to do it. You’re an inspiration.'”
