*In the Wednesday night ratings showdown between Cookie and Dolly, the Lyon matriarch’s “Empire” may have won the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demo, but NBC’s “Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors” trounced “Empire” in overall viewers.

Back after its Thanksgiving break, Fox’s “Empire” fell to a new series low with a drop of 10% from its November 16 episode. It’s 2.8 rating was enough to beat Dolly’s 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demo, but “Empire” drew just 7.82 million viewers to Dolly’s 11.5 million.

“Empire’s” Nov. 16 episode rose 7% from its previous series low of November 9.

No help came from Fox’s Damon Wayans-led lead-in Lethal Weapon (1.6/6), which was down a tenth from its last original episode.

ABC’s “Black-ish,” however, saw its (1.8/6) ratings rise 20% over its last pre-Thanksgiving original episode.
