*EURweb was on the scene to cover the red carpet ceremony for the new film “La La Land” which opens in theaters this weekend.

We sent our associate, Jeffrey Smith, to the Westwood Village theater in LA’s Westwood district to cover the event. He spoke with the film’s stars Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling and choreographer Mandy Moore, among others.

When Jeffrey asked Gosling if his previous hip hop dance experience helped his in “La La Land,” Gosling responded, “No, it didn’t.”

He added:

“Nineties hip hop doesn’t translate into soft shoe and waltzing, you know. I thought it would help, but it, it … I was like, starting from scratch.”

So in case you’re wondering what the film is about, here’s info via Wikipedia:

“La La Land” is a 2016 American romantic musical comedy-drama film written and directed by Damien Chazelle and starring Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, John Legend and Rosemarie DeWitt. The plot follows a musician and aspiring actress who meet and fall in love in Los Angeles. It is the third film to feature Gosling and Stone as lovers, following Crazy, Stupid, Love and Gangster Squad.

The film’s title is a reference to both a nickname for the city of Los Angeles as well as a euphemism for a state of being out of touch with reality.

“La La Land had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on August 31, 2016 and is set to be released in the United States on December 9, 2016 by Summit Entertainment. The film received rave reviews from critics, publications and media-outlets particularly praising Damien Chazelle’s direction, Gosling and Stone’s performances, musical numbers, overall production, and the film’s revitalization of the musical film genre.

Here’s more of the specific synopsis of the film:
